- Progressive experience with detailed industrial, oil & gas and chemical piping systems.
- Preparation of piping isometrics, line lists, and material take-offs.
- Understanding of pipe support design requirements and movements.
- Experience in the preparation of mechanical equipment layouts and general arrangement plans and sections.
- Able to coordinate with other disciplines such as structural, electrical, HVAC to ensure no clashes.
- Preparation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Knowledge of material specifications and standards.
- Field experience safely obtaining existing site information regarding pipe routing, arrangements, supports, and sizes to develop background drawings with limited assistance.
- Knowledge of engineering workflow processes and industry standards.
- Ability to work closely with senior engineers and senior designers on the completion of deliverables with challenging schedules.
- Experienced in 3D modelling, AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Knowledgeable in creating layouts and 3D models for process equipment and piping directly from P&IDs, vendor drawings (STP files) and piping specifications using codes and good design practices and generating 2D drawings from the 3D model.
- Identifies needs for accessibility for cleaning, maintenance and safety around equipment and items such as valve manifolds, instruments, and valve actuators.
- Skilled to work with process fluids, steam, condensate, compressed air, thermal fluids, etc.
- Mechanical Technician diploma, in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology (Process Piping Major) or a Process Piping Drafting Certificate combined with relevant job experience.
- 7 – 10 years of piping design experience within a consulting engineering firm working on industrial and/or chemical plant projects.
- Field work experience is a strong asset.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technically, clearly, and effectively: written, spoken, and interpersonal.
- Sound understanding of Engineering design principles, codes and regulations.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to travel to the site independently
