This research position is within the Department of Supportive Care - Division of Psychosocial Oncology (PSO) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a large academic cancer hospital that is part of the University Health Network (UHN). The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and experience in clinical research in health psychology or psychosocial oncology, with experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. A background in clinical or counselling psychology, or social work is preferred.This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly committed, self-motivated, and hardworking individual, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong initiative-taking ability. The ideal candidate must also be comfortable working in both a virtual capacity or in-person, be able to work well within a team and independently, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.DutiesUnder the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Analyst will be responsible for (1) project tasks associated with a mixed-methods study on the unique psychosocial and related fertility needs of patients with early endometrial cancer or atypical hyperplasia, their caregivers, and healthcare team; (2) development of a psychosocial intervention to address distress related to fertility; (3) Assistance on other study projects such as but not limited to a fear of cancer recurrence study for young adults with cancer. Main responsibilities include:
- Assisting the research team with managing the day-to-day operations of research initiatives, supervising volunteers or junior research assistants, developing project plans;
- Monitoring and tracking project progress, participating in the planning of study protocols and design, quantitative data entry and analysis, qualitative data management and analysis, literature searches, helping prepare grants, writing initial drafts of manuscripts and preparing presentations/posters;
- Study-related administrative tasks (e.g., writing standard operating procedures, regular updates of study progress and attendance at research meetings);
- Completion of other administrative and study-related tasks as assigned or requested.
- Depending strongly on background, experience and qualifications, the Clinical Research Analyst may have the opportunity to co-facilitate a clinical group intervention with the Principal Investigator as part of the research study.
- Bachelor's degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science related discipline (masters preferred)
- 1 to 2 years clinical and/or professional experience in clinical research/ research project management (i.e. data collection and management; statistical analysis; qualitative analysis), including experience with patient interaction
- Proficiency in research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical (SPSS preferred; RStudio) and qualitative software (NVivo), as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods and conducting interviews.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail to meet project timelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High motivation and desire to take initiative, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant research guidelines and processes would be considered an asset.
