Social and Community Service Worker - Canada Summer Job

• Plan and implement activities for children, youth, and families
• Assist with our Community Impact Centre Program host duties
• Facilitate programming with program volunteers and when volunteer(s) is absent
• Jointly organize activities with the Site Lead, Youth programmer, and external resources
• Attend staff meetings and other training as required
• Other duties as assigned

• Diploma or degree in related field is an asset
• Experience working with vulnerable clientele and facilitating programming
• Empathy for the vulnerable and a desire for greater understanding concerning poverty and justice issues in an urban center
• Strong computer, communication and conflict resolution skills
• Interest and skills in recreational activities is an asset
• Strong team building skills

• Working environment will include indoor and outdoor activities, office work on computer, lifting and some travel will be required
• Evenings and weekends hours may be required to accommodate the hours of the community hubs
• Physical and mental effort will be moderate
• Valid Driver’s License, Driver’s Abstract and Employment Security Check is required
• Navigating interactions with challenging clients who may exhibit unpredictable behavior, including swearing, anger, and the possibility of becoming aggressive
• Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
• Position is conditional on Summer Student funding and number of hours or weeks may be subject to change
