Your ideal work environment includes a collaborative team spirit with the opportunity to learn and grow as you take the initiative to try new things.As a Product Life-Cycle Management Specialist, you will be responsible for being the bridge between the supply chain, manufacturing, and product development teams for the full product life-cycle from design and the integration phases of mechanical and electronics solutions. You have a background in Manufacturing Engineering with responsibilities in product launching and sustaining engineering in a vertical supply chain environment - from manufacturing to distribution and field operation deployment. You have a good understanding of product regulatory requirements, and supplier quality management in a cross-functional environment. You are a fast learner, analytical, and willing to challenge yourself and others to improve best practices.What you will do:
  • Owns product life-cycle management from conception to obsolescence for activities including (but not limited to):
  • NPI launch - acts as vendor’s technical interface for manufacturing specifications, prototype/pilot/production build readiness, scheduling, and DFX.
  • Manufacturing release - FAA sign offs, production release checklist, process validation and qualification build.
  • Sustaining engineering - revision control, change control workflow including change control review, approval, implementation and administration (PCN, ECR/ECN, etc).
  • Configuration management - ensure product revisions are up to date and maintained at various stages in NPI, production, inventories at warehouses, refurbishment, and field-deployed products.
  • Provide technical input in the supply chain such as strategic sourcing, cost reduction, and vendor qualification.
  • Collect and finalize design package for manufacturing transfer to vendors, and contract manufacturers.
  • Monitor new product production processes to proactively address any assembly steps with poor yield, quality problems, or general inefficiency.
  • Lead or coordinate continuous process/product improvement and cost reduction initiatives along with other tasks as assigned.
  • Manage assembly BOMs for products/SKUs for demand planning process with sales and forecast planner.
  • Work with the Product team to align BoMs to the Product Catalog, setting and re-calibrating forecast BOMs to actual consumption, until product definition and implementation are fully flushed.
  • Work with field services engineer to create and maintain install BOMs at PLM.
  • Some domestic/international travel will be required in working with overseas and domestic contract manufacturers and design teams.
RequirementsWe want you to succeed so you will need:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering with 4+ years relevant experience or 6+ years relevant practical ‘hands-on’ experience in a technical supply chain-oriented role.
  • Background in electronics sustaining engineering, new product development support, manufacturing engineering, or components engineering.
  • Experience with manufacturing, and design concepts to streamline manufacturing, supply chain, field operation, and customer.
  • Experience in executing changes within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proficient in configuration management and change control in PLM/PDM.
  • Excellent communication in technical writing and can work well in a cross-functional team environment.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with EU REACH, RoHS, CE requirements, and audits.
  • Able to understand CAD (mechanical and electronics) and electronics design an asset.
