Weather, proximity to major centres (Windsor and Detroit) and an extremely affordable cost of living add to Leamington’s charm.In A Nutshell:The Sun Parlor Home for Senior Citizens located in Leamington is recruiting for a Registered Practical Nurses (RPN). Reporting to the Nursing Leadership Team, the RPN provides nursing care in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards of practice, applicable legislation and policies and procedures.Day In The Life:
- Ensures quality of care tailored to the individualized needs of residents.
- Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services.
- Is knowledgeable and has the skill to administers medications to residents appropriately.
- Interacts with the residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.
- Assess resident condition through recognizing and interpreting signs and symptoms.
- Reviews laboratory results.
- Participates in Inter-Disciplinary Team Conferences.
- Utilizes evidence-based screening protocols to promote health and prevent illness
- Responsible for addressing resident, family or visitor concerns brought forward and communicate area of concern to applicable department manager.
- Performs and supervises services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, colostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, and overseeing restorative care programs and palliative care.
- Supervises and supports Personal Support Workers.
- Reports to Registered Nurses and the Nurse Leaders.
- Updates electronic documentation on residents.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Nurses of Ontario (RPNAO).
- A minimum of six months nursing experience in Long Term Care preferred.
- Experience working with an electronic patient record.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and up to 15 shifts in a 4 week schedule including holidays.
- Requires Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance and TB screening.
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid.
- $30.79 per hour to start, progressing to a maximum of 33.06 per hour. Plus 12% in lieu of benefits according to the collective agreement.
