Requisition ID: 142421Opportunity Type: PermanentAbout This OpportunityRecruiting for a unique opportunity for a physician with an interest in Care of the Elderly. We are
seeking a physician to care for 25 veteran (or non-veteran) residents at the Veterans' Memorial
Building (VMB). The physician is supported by a well-rounded interdisciplinary health team including
Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacist, Social Work, Recreation Therapy and
Dental Hygiene. This position is also supported by a full time Nurse Practitioner with a special focus
in Palliative Care. Day time and weekend urgent medical needs of the patients are also supported by
two full time Associate Physicians. As part of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VMB Long Term
Care has access to a host of Medical and Surgical resources if within patient's goals of care. As an
Academic teaching site the VMB and its health care team have a strong commitment to quality care
improvement initiatives and supporting and Medical and Health profession education. The VMB
welcomes Family Medicine residents and is involved in their core training in Care of the Elderly.Payment Model: Monthly stipend (to cover attendance in non-billable team meetings)
  • Fee for Service billing for services provided
  • On-Call Facility call fee as per Master Agreement
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Medical care for 25 patients supported by weekly visits.
  • Attending multi-disciplinary meetings as needed to support excellent patient care
  • Further details can be provided upon request
  • Equitable participation in call group (202 beds)
  • An opportunity to teach Family Medicine Residents clinical if desired
