Grande Prairie OSB is currently recruiting for an “Assistant Chief Power Engineer”.Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer, the Assistant Chief Power Engineer is responsible to assist with the safe and efficient operation of the thermal energy system, the electrified filter beds, and the strand dryer system, while maintaining the mill environmental compliance on a day-to-day basis. The Assistant Chief Power Engineer is a succession role towards becoming a future Chief Power Engineer.You'll Do:
  • Working with Team Members to reinforce and support safety for everyone at West Fraser Grande Prairie.
  • Ensure safe work plans are in place and utilized, with input from key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate leadership competencies to build relationships based upon trust, caring and integrity and assist the development of team members.
  • Actively support the Chief Power Engineer through the process cycle of Capital & Maintenance Projects – from inception to commissioning to evaluation.
  • Provide insight into the development and adherence of operating budget.
  • Demonstrate leadership ownership and accountability to the planning, scheduling and execution of various projects, work orders and day-to-day activities.
  • This position requires flexibility in scheduling to meet business needs and will include process duties and administrative duties.
You have:
  • 3rd Class Power Engineer, knowledge of OSB processes (preferred).
  • Ambition to take on a leadership role and support all safety efforts.
  • Ability to backfill Chief Power Engineer as required.
  • Committed to succession plan towards becoming future Chief Power Engineer.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, sound judgment, and desire for continuous learning.
  • Track record demonstrating ability to both embrace and facilitate change.
  • Solid computer skills (minimum Office Suite).
