About the role:
We are hiring an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Connected Equipment business unit.Samsara's Trailers & Equipment teams focus on delivering solutions for trailer and powered equipment tracking. We help customers understand the utilization of their trailers, the location of expensive assets, and provide insight into their equipment health. We ingest large amounts of data from our hardware in real time and help customers make sense of their overall logistics through real-time visibility, reporting, and alerting.As a manager in Connected Equipment, you will lead a team responsible for building and maintaining some of the core services and features that serve our trailers and equipment customers. At Samsara's current stage, scalability is a huge part of what we build for, and this role requires a strong understanding of engineering best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a team of talented engineers.You should apply if:

  • Build roadmaps, engineering plans, and schedule estimates
  • Design new workflows to streamline customer interactions with large volumes of event data
  • Promote best practices and establish team processes
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Identify infrastructure and architectural investment needs
  • Coach & mentor software engineers
  • Conduct regular 1-1s and give performance evaluations

Minimum requirements for the role:
  • 6+ years of professional experience in a Software Engineering role
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience with a team of 3 or more engineers
  • Experience working on large-scale enterprise software applications
