The Infection Prevention and Control Department (IPAC) is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Manager, IPAC.Reporting to the Senior Clinical Director, Addictions & Physical Health Integration, the Manager, IPAC will lead the infection control team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the facility-wide Infection Control Program. This position will provide leadership in ongoing advancement of the infection control program which includes surveillance, outbreak investigation and management, risk analysis, reporting, education and training components. They will work closely with the IPAC Medical Director, and support the Infection Control Practitioners in providing consultation related to communicable disease prevention and transmission control in inpatient, emergency department, and outpatient mental health care settings, and assist clinical teams in the application of IPAC policies, procedures and compliance measures.The Manager will support data quality, quality improvement and process improvement initiatives focused on patient care and patient safety, and as well as efforts to ensure CAMH is meeting its Accreditation Canada IPAC standards. The IPAC program is responsible for the continuous monitoring, investigation, analysis and follow-up of all potential/actual infections and the manager will ensure strategic linkages are developed with support service departments, relevant committees and other key stakeholders to enable IPAC best practices, including work to support for patients and families.The Manager will work with the Senior Clinical Director to ensure the department's operating plan is consistent with the organization's vision, strategic plan and annual objectives and ensures that key components of an effective infection control program are in place.You will develop and support a culture of safety and support a psychologically healthy and safe environment. You will also support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • The successful candidate will be a health care professional with a Masters Degree in a related field e.g. Infectious Disease, Infection Control, Public Health, Nursing, Health Sciences Administration and current registration with the relevant college, if applicable. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • You will have minimal 3-5 years of previous management experience (or equivalency) and possess knowledge of healthcare, specifically mental health and addiction care and infection control practices
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an Infection Control Practitioner in a mental health or acute care hospital setting
  • Certification in Infection Control is required
  • You will have a sound understanding of inpatient/emergency department settings including experience working in/with an interdisciplinary team of regulated and unregulated health professionals
  • Experience in healthcare facilities Construction, Renovation, Maintenance and Design would be an asset and knowledge of CSA standards for infection control as they relate to healthcare design
  • A track record of the provision of client and family centred care
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse healthcare team.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making abilities to foster collaboration and ensure optimal patient care.
  • Proficiency in organizational and administrative tasks, including resource management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare management software
  • Development of linkages/partnerships
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and communities is essential
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Work, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset
