The Liaison Engineer – Electrical, is responsible for evaluating and resolving engineering-related production problems encountered in assigned construction areas at the company. Under the direction of the Liaison Engineering Manager, and Relevant Leads the Liaison Engineer supports operations in assigned areas including: production issue resolution, review of production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities in assigned areas. This role may also collaborate closely with distributed design teams in order to optimally complete tasks as assigned. This role will also interface with Operation personnel to resolve production and testing issues and maintain schedule.What you will be doing:Develop full understanding of construction standards, material specifications and bills of material in accordance with the company material strategies and customer requirements and develop understanding cable pulling, the company electrical standards, collaborating closely with design engineers to resolve production issues.Attending manufacturing shops and provide field support as needed.Provide engineering support as assigned in areas of construction.Collaborate closely with Operations and with Planning and Production Control to tackle production issues in a technically acceptable manner and maintain cost and schedule objectives.Develop and/or review design documents in order to achieve customer, Classification Society and other regulatory approval.Provide support to suppliers and subcontractors related to the activities in areas of construction to achieve cost and schedule performance.What you must have:An Engineering degree in electrical, mechatronic or electrical marine systems. P.Eng, or EIT registration.5+ years post-secondary experience in marine industry or similar roles is preferred.Previous maritime, shipyard or shipboard knowledge or experience is desired.Experience working with a diverse integrated project team is considered an asset.Field experience in similar industries is an assetWorking knowledge of cable pulling, electrical equipment, single line diagrams, and field engineering and/or .Technical knowledge and engineering skills, including use of analysis tools and knowledge of analytical methods.Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.Above average analytical skills to capture and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills including the ability to produce and communicate clear and detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.Working knowledge of ShipConstructor and ACAD software, 3D Modelling and Visualization tools, document control systems and databases is an asset.Strong communication skills including verbal, written, listening and presentation.Availability and willingness to travel if needed.Committed to a high standard of safety and able to follow all safety laws and all of the employer’s safety policies and rules.Exercise sound judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.PC proficiency required.
