Our offices are located in Calgary, ABWhat role you will play in our teamAs a student engineering intern in Imperial's Surface and Mine Technical organization, you will support the Kearl oilsands operation. Your role will involve closely working with Operations, Maintenance, and Technical groups to design and implement engineering solutions related to the surface facilities at the Mine. The role may also support the Reliability engineering organization in completed failure analysis investigations and improving equipment strategies to ensure the long term safe and effective performance of both plant and mine mobile equipment.What you will do
  • Technical site support for day-to-day unit issues, opportunities identification, and short-term engineering initiatives
  • Support facilities surveillance, unit troubleshooting, optimization
  • Provide technical support for production downtime and/or process safety events.
  • Design, specify, deploy, and sustain facilities designs leveraging Kearl's design practices/tools
  • Conduct and support Root Cause Failure Investigations for Reliability Events
  • Conduct Reliability bad actor identification and analysis for various Mine and Plant Business Teams and equipment
  • Support and progress Equipment Strategy improvements for mine mobile and plant equipment to improve Reliability.
  • Collaborate with key Business Team stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, Reliability and Technical)
  • This is Calgary based on a regular 5/2 schedule (Monday to Friday).
  • This role reports to the Reliability and/or Facilities Engineering Supervisor, with primary direction from the Engineering Lead and the Kearl Business Teams
About youSkills and Qualifications
  • Completing a Mechanical or Mining Engineering degree program
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
  • Able to work individually, as well as in a team situation, with minimal supervision.
