- Accountable for work planning and execution on the project including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules.
- Ensure alignment and partnering with the alliance partners.
- Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks, and issues.
- Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for General Foreman.
- Responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of safety, quality, and human performance programs.
- Ensures that Aecon policies and project procedures are being adhered to and followed by project personnel.
- Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
- Assume responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labour and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools & equipment and contractual performance of the project.
- Understanding and support of applicable trade agreements.
- Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns to Construction Manager.
- Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.
- Review and provide support in the creation of Construction Work Packages.
- Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Construction Work Packages and project schedule and budget.
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
- Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
- Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.
- Carry out site safety inspections.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
- Minimum of 7 years construction and subcontractor supervision experience
- 2 years nuclear construction experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, EPSCA trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements.
- Experience in managing major refurbishment or complex Nuclear projects.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints and specifications.
- Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
- Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
