Job Description:, is Canada's premier utility contractor, as well as head of the AND part of the Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy.Reporting to the Substation Construction Supervisor, the role of Site Foreman is to oversee on-site construction activities within various workgroups. In this role the Foreman is expected to lead on-site crew while ensuring project construction is executed effectively and safely. The Foreman is also responsible for tracking any changes or field issues as the arise, while bringing to the Site Supervisor immediately. The Foreman is responsible to be the main point of contact for the Field staff/crew.Requirements:KEY (CORE) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage effectively and efficiently all site construction activities and on site personnel members.
  • Comply and follow Valard's safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Complete daily all paperwork relating to jobsite, including timesheets, field reports etc.
  • Equipment reviews and scheduling.
  • Work with New hire's as well as existing field personnel to develop technical skills and Valard's safety policies and procedure.
  • Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures as well as safety program requirements and construction quality practices.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere within the group as well as Client relations when interacting with the Client.
  • Address Crew any issues/Conflicts with Site Supervisor as they arise.
  • Work with on-site Safety Advisor to address any safety concerns brought forth by crews and or Client.
  • Manage Material deliveries and inventorying of Materials as they are received on site, identifying any potential risks, and bringing to Site Supervisors attention.
  • Ensure that the crews are following the Valard Quality Management Plan and that the work is being completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure that all Valard's Equipment and tools are being used in safe and professional manner. The tools are accounted for daily. Any defective tools and equipment are tagged out of service and replaced and or repaired prior to using again.
  • Work with Site Supervisor to understand the full scope of the project. This will allow the Foreman to identify changes in scope that will directly have Cost Impact and schedule implications.
  • Must be able to Manage large work groups consisting of up to 10-20 people with the assistance of Lead Hands to manage smaller workgroups.
REPORTING
  • Producing and submitting Daily and/or Monthly Progress/Program Reports to Client and company management.
  • Organize all tailboards and ensure the Supervisor, Substations is kept up to date on progress
  • In coordination with safety, report all safety incidents according to company policy
  • In coordination with Human Resources, report and document all employee relation issues
  • Report Near Misses
  • Ensure safety forms are being filled out
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Journeyman PSE/Electrician/Lineman designation.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in medium to high-voltage substation construction considered an asset.
  • Able to manage large work groups consisting up to 10-20 people at any one time.
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost and quality controls.
  • Position is field based, incumbent must be able to accommodate multiple shift requirements based on site-specific project schedules.
