- Maintain, monitor, test and log all steam generating requirements by operation code and establish operating parameters of equipment with set points.
- Completes routine plant inspections of the ammonia-refrigeration, boilers and compressors and ensures that all systems are operating in a safe and expected manner.
- Interface with necessary contractual and inspection departments for corrective or legal requirements, including setup of work with 3rd party contractors.
- Carry out work requests and apply corrective measures in a timely manner utilizing computerized maintenance system (including SAP).
- Follow all Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, WHMIS and MSDS policies or procedures.
- Support and provide direction to the Power House team and ensure that appropriate shift coverage is maintained.
- The incumbent will support the development of SOP's for the start-up of equipment and complete documents to ensure assigned asset numbers as installed, review manuals and generate PM programs for installed equipment.
- Valid certificate of qualification as a 2nd Class Operating (Stationary) Engineer. Will consider candidates that have valid 3rd class certification and are close to obtaining their 2nd class certification.
- Steam, ammonia and refrigeration experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Highly motivated and a self-starter - able to work well with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills
- Experience in a food processing environment
- Good computer skills - proficient in Microsoft office applications & experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Experience with root cause analysis & continuous improvement programs such as 6Sigma
- Project management experience
- Desire to achieve personal, departmental & plant goals
- Shift is typically 10 hours, Monday-Thursday though this position also covers Stationary Engineers for 12-hour shifts - Rotating schedule that includes, days, nights, and weekends.
