Closing Date: May 24, 2025Position Summary
The Princess Margaret Genomics Centre is seeking a permanent full-time Research Technician II. Working under the direction of senior staff, the successful applicant will utilize standardized laboratory techniques and procedures in genomics and molecular biology applications; perform experiments and analysis; communicate and maintain records of experimental data. As an integral team member at the Genomics Centre, a UHN core facility, the research technician must be dedicated and result-driven and will be involved in all aspects of service projects, following SOPs and meeting target deadlines. There will be a special emphasis on techniques for spatial genomics workflows, including the Visium and Xenium assays from 10x Genomics.Duties
  • Onboarding of samples from and communication with clients
  • Entry of sample and library information into LIMS
  • Tissue section staining and imaging
  • Tissue section probe hybridization and sequencing library construction (Visium)
  • Tissue section probe hybridization and instrument loading (Xenium)
  • Final library QC by BioAnalyzer
Qualifications
  • BSc in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline or higher
  • At least 2 years of experience with standard molecular biology laboratory techniques such as:-
- Experience with PCR reaction set up and purification (necessary)
- Experience with manual pipetting and reaction set-up
- Experience with brightfield and fluorescence microscopy including imaging and microscope control software
- A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies (necessary) * Excellent organizational and time management skills (necessary)
  • Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines (necessary)
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented (necessary)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment (necessary)
