- Act as primary liaison with suppliers to ensure responses to supplier quality issues are received in a timely manner. Approve and follow up on supplier submitted root cause(s) and corrective actions resulting from Loewen generated SCAR’S.
- Coordinate supplier quality activities, to ensure suppliers provide raw materials that meet company standards.
- Participate in supplier selection process. Technical support in terms of capability and process reliability. Impose and monitor containment of suppliers where necessary.
- Generate scheduled departmental metrics for Supplier performance by supplier and/or commodity type. Use established metrics to target improvement activity focus.
- Create and maintain scheduled supplier evaluations focusing on supplier capabilities, on-time delivery, responsiveness, quality, price, diagnostic record and stability of finished goods inventor. Use this metrics to establish and monitor improvement targets and areas.
- Train and assist suppliers in continuous improvement efforts to improve quality performance.
- Conduct supplier site audits in relation to supplier selection/status, corrective action follow up, continuous improvement, tooling maintenance / condition, process capability, finished goods inventory, relationship building.
- Perform inspection and documentation on materials as per Loewen Quality standards, including materials that require a FAIR (First Article Inspection Requirement).
- Lead a cross functional team in advance analysis and ask assistance from the technical experts within their area of expertise.
- Performing other duties as requested.
- A minimum of 2 years working in an SQA or Quality function role previously working directly with suppliers, within Manufacturing and /or the Fenestration industry
- Experience performing product, process or compliance audits.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Analytical thinking and experience with root cause and corrective action analysis and implementation of acceptable preventive actions.
- Previous experience in component / procurement engineering
- Computer skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience performing SCAR, First Article Inspections, Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- The ability to multi-task and establish/meet deadlines and priorities.
- The ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to travel, must hold a valid passport.
- Preference will be given to those with an Engineering or Technical education.
- Experience in a combination of office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.
