Do you have any experience in social sciences, fund development, and have excellent writing and research skills? The Mustard Seed is seeking a Grants Coordinator.The Mustard Seed’s Development department is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist in the administration, stewardship and reporting of grants. The position is vital to supporting the smooth functioning of our team, maintaining accountability to donors and ensuring ongoing financial support of The Mustard Seed’s work. This position is a one-year contract position and requires a high degree of initiative and strong organizational and collaboration skills.Employment Type: Fixed Term (May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM
Reporting to: Senior Manager of Grants and Foundations

RFR #: 661DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Administration
  • Assist with maintaining up-to-date files of applications, agreements, reports and other documents
  • Assist with tracking of funder relationships by updating Customer Relationship Management systems
  • Support Grants team with administrative tasks, such as sharing grant agreements and other documents with program leads
  • Ensure that grantors are appropriately recognized and thanked
  • Liaise with Donor Relations, Data, Finance and program teams to ensure that funds are appropriately tracked and managed
  • Support program leaders in ensuring that grant funds are used in compliance with terms of agreements
Reporting
  • • Maintain reporting calendar and ensure all reports are submitted to grantors in a timely fashion • Liaise with program teams to collect program KPIs and success stories • Write grant reports that meet donor requirements and tell the story of program impact • Work with Finance department to complete financial reports • Work closely with the Fund Development Team to track current and potential grant opportunities
Other
  • Support with developing applications for small grants as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Post-secondary diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Social Sciences or a related field
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Experience working in fund development and interacting with major donors such as the Government of Alberta will be considered an asset
  • Proven experience with grant reporting, financial reporting, financial analysis and budgeting will be considered an asset
  • Ability to plan, organize, manage time, and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, flexibility, adaptability and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Analytical capacity with high ability to plan, research, and take initiative
  • Ability to understand and communicate financial data
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with Customer Relationship Software such as Sales Force will be considered an asset
  • Must pass criminal record check

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Office setting, Monday – Friday during business hours
  • Flexible working hours and some overtime may be required
  • Pro-longed periods of sitting, computer use
  • Minimal physical effort
  • Moderate to extreme mental effort
  • Limited travel may be required
