Successful employees embrace and model these values in their behaviors and actions.Job DescriptionThis position applies to the overall operation of the sodium silicate dissolving. It has the responsibility of maintaining maximum safety, environmental protection, efficiency, reliability, productivity, quality, and customer service.PRODUCTION & MAINTENANCE
  • Obtain maximum efficiency from all operating equipment.
  • Obtain maximum productivity from all processes. Tests the silicate blow tank during the filling process and modifies the dissolving recipe of subsequent batches as required to ensure that the blow tank is near the midpoint of the product specification when the blow tank is full.
  • Maintain adequate inventories to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment. Completes work orders issued from the Action Maintenance program. Returns completed work orders to the specified location once the assigned tasks are complete.
  • Inspects equipment and processes. Corrects deficiencies to the limit of his skills, experience and training. Reports all deficiencies (both corrected and outstanding) to the Plant Manager.
  • Performs corrective maintenance on all equipment within limits of his training and experience. Notifies Plant Manager of any additional equipment deficiencies that he is unable to resolve on his own.
  • Maintain accurate production and maintenance records, including entering data into SAP and OEE Production reporting on a daily basis.
  • Start-up, operate and shutdown equipment as required.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Quality
  • Understands and follows ISO 9001 Procedures and the Plant Operating Procedures. Maintains data and records under ISO 9001 standards and procedures.
  • Where specified, signs all quality records with a legible signature, so that the operator can be identified. This includes Certificates of Analysis, production log sheets, instrumentation calibration records, truck inspection reports, receiving and shipping documents, raw material receiving reports, and any other record where a signature is required.
  • Before performing any quality control tests, ensures that the test equipment is calibrated according to the required schedule as shown in the Laboratory Procedures Manual, and maintains calibration records. Performs the calibration as required.
  • Notifies Plant Manager when outside calibration services are required to meet the schedule.
  • Notifies Plant Manager when the inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment is running low (i.e. before using the last one).
  • Follows manufacturing instructions and produces and ships products within specifications.
  • Continually strives to improve quality and reduce variation.
  • Collects and records operating and laboratory data, including analysis of storage tanks.
  • Inspects tank trucks before loading product for the customer and takes appropriate action when customer quality may be compromised.
Service
  • Communicate all customer complaints/shipments outside of customer criteria to proper authorities (ie. Delivery, quality, paper work, etc.)
  • Work with teams for continually improving the customer service system.
  • Takes delivery orders from customers, schedules deliveries and enters orders into SAP.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with all customers.
  • To be on call to load trucks for customers during off time. (Weekends on call)
  • Locate trucks to load for customers during off time.
HUMAN RESOURCES
  • Provide input on career enhancement.
  • Assists in the training of a new employee.
  • Follow plant rules as posted.
FACILITY RESOURCES
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping. Identify and correct any housekeeping deficiencies on the site.
  • Suggest improvements to maintain advantage over competition.
SOCIETAL CONCERNS
Safety
  • Provide input into annual EH&S Plan.
  • Use B.B.S. to prevent unsafe acts.
  • Follows the “ Life Saving Behaviors” as posted.
  • Participates in Monthly Safety Committee meetings.
Environment
  • Monitor all environmental systems at plant.
  • Provide input into annual EH&S Plan.
  • Reports any environmental observation.
  • Understands and follows RC140001 Procedures and the Plant Operating Procedures. Maintains data and records under RC140001 standards and procedures.
Responsible Care Ethic & Principles for Sustainability
  • Follow all CIAC codes of practice.
  • Understands the ethic and principles of Responsible Care Ethic & Principles for Sustainability and conducts operations within these guidelines.
QualificationsManagerial
  • Assume daily responsibilities of as outlined by the Plant Manager in his absence.
  • Schedule trucks for the following week.
  • Traces transport of raw material and communicate with the railways.
Individual
  • Off load railcars.
  • Load trucks for delivering products to the customer.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections.
  • Perform uninterrupted glass dissolving.
  • Load Rail cars if required.
  • Perform minor equipment repair.
  • Maintain work area clean and free from all safety hazards.
  • Assist in plant budget development.
  • Perform efficient start up/shut-down of plant and related equipment.
  • Maintain active participation in ISO audits/EHS audits/environmental audits.
  • Perform all quality checks on products shipped, boiler water and maintain records.
  • Obtain knowledge of all company policies/plant procedures/ISO procedures/Emergency Response Plan.
  • Prioritize in emergency situations and provide communication to proper authorities.
  • Hold a 4th class Power Engineer’s (boiler operator’s) ticket. (Required)
  • Possess good math, reading, writing and computer skills.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Authority:
Assume daily responsibilities as outlined by Plant Manager in his absence.
Approve purchase of parts and contractor services up to $1000.Performance:
Satisfactory performance of these duties is a condition of employment. Unsatisfactory results may be subject to discipline, up to and including discharge.Additional InformationEHS Responsibilities
  • Communicates, promotes and personally demonstrates Safety/Health (including PQP Principles) as #1 priority
  • Participation in risk assessment audits as applicable
  • Understand PQ Principles (PQP) and how they are implemented in the site organization, rules and procedures
