- Detailed computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer and reactive flow using COMSOL Multiphysics®
- In-house development of software libraries, solvers and applications to integrate thermodynamic-based process modelling to multiphysics simulation or to develop fully integrated digital twin metallurgical models into industrial plant control system.
- Develop and support process models in COMSOL, SysCad, ChemApp, FactSage, SimuSage, Metsim, and Arena.
- Support software development and maintenance of in-house simulation libraries, apps and tools for metallurgical process simulation.
- Write project proposals and market the XPS business.
- Manage projects by meeting turnaround (schedule), quality and safety standards.
- Learn and develop specialized knowledge and expertise for our clients .
- A degree in metallurgical, chemical engineering or related degree and/or related experience, or
- A degree in computer science or mathematics with strong knowledge of metallurgical or chemical engineering
- Five years of relevant work experience in process metallurgy or advanced degrees
- Proficiency in any of: SysCad, Metsim, FactSage, Comsol, SimuSage, Arena, ChemApp
- Experience in Object Oriented Programming, most desirable is experience in C#, Python or C (experience in other computer programing languages is beneficial)
- Comfortable with distributed version control software such as Git.
- Strong background in linear algebra and optimization techniques is highly recommended
- Experience with base metals (both oxide & sulphide), precious metals and rare earths
- Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic team
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite or equivalent products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail
