We offer our employees:On-the-job training and professional development opportunitiesChildcare discountsOpportunities to get involved in our communityA competitive total rewards packageIf you’re passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of women, children, and families every day, we would love for you to join our team!Position DescriptionJob Code: 6-CSJ-2024Department: Youth Programs & SpeqtrumReports to: Program ManagerLocation: Hamilton, ONHours of Work: 35 hours per weekStart Date: July 2nd, 2024Contract End Date: August 23rd, 2024Posting Date: May 2nd, 2024There are 3 vacancies for this position.Creating safe(r), anti-racist, and inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Hamilton;Supporting QTBIPOC and all other 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Hamilton to form and maintain healthy relationships with their peers and community;Responsible for planning, promoting, and executing two events per month;Event planning - coordinating logistics such as transportation (bus tickets and rideshare), online event scheduling, purchasing supplies as needed, budgeting and managing expenses;Recording event data (number of participants, etc.);Collaborating with other Speqtrum staff to co-facilitate additional events as required;Attending staff meetings;Administering evaluation tools at select events;Nurturing and forming meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships, and liaising with community stakeholders;Attending and participating in all YWCA Hamilton mandatory training;Supporting YWCA Hamilton and Speqtrum’s mission, vision and values;Perform other duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS:Working 35 hours per week, some evenings and weekends may be required based on program needs;Requires remote work, and use of your own computer and phone;May include work at in-person events, depending on provincial and municipal guidelines and employee’s accessibility needs. QualificationsStrong knowledge and experience planning and facilitating groups and workshops is required;Experience facilitating events or advocating with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities is an asset;Lived experience with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities is required;Lived experience with Newcomer, trans, or disability communities is an asset;Demonstrated knowledge of working from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive framework/practice;Strong knowledge of anti-racism practices, and the impacts of racism, anti-black racism, and colonialism in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities is required;Knowledge of social media/outreach/graphic design is an asset;Knowledge of Hamilton’s 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and Hamilton resources is preferred;Familiarity with facilitating online events is an asset;Ability to motivate and encourage participation from participants, while respecting their limits and boundaries;Commitment to creating spaces for ALL 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, and can identify and mitigate barriers to participation, such as racism, ableism, classism, etc.;Ability to bring a feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive perspective to work;Bilingual English/French or other languages is an asset;Ability to work a schedule which includes days, afternoons, evenings and weekends based on program needs;Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost. This is a temporary summer position which is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
