Salary Range: $39380 / per year

Summary of Position:

The Homemaker, under the direction and supervision of the Community Home Care Supervisor, is responsible for providing house cleaning services to the clients of the program and adhering to precise procedures and standards involving a high degree of accuracy in observing, recording, and reporting data.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs home management tasks including but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, laundry, cleaning the refrigerator/stove, running errands, and other cleaning duties such as bathrooms, etc.
  • Assists clients with the preparation of meals as required and provides a safe, clean environment in the home.
  • Understands and follows the client care plan developed by the RN and client/family.
  • Reports unsafe conditions, changes in the client’s physical or mental behavior, or changes in the environment to the Community Home Care Supervisor

  • Demonstrates respect for the rights, dignity, and self-worth of all clients, family members, and co-workers at all times including the responsibility for establishing and maintaining worker/client boundaries.
  • Is flexible and innovative in all approaches at providing a high quality of care.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information gained during the course of duties.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Neskonlith policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Community Home Care Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to document work completed.
  • Compassionate, caring, considerate and respectful of client needs.
  • Great communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, independently, and without direct supervision.
  • First-aid certification is required, food safe is required, WHMIS is considered an asset.
  • Must successfully pass the required pre-employment RCMP Criminal Record Check
  • Must have valid class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriately insured vehicle.
