Senior Investment Analyst, Materials:

The Resources Investment team has managed assets for Canadian investors since 1973, making it the oldest resources mutual fund investment practice in Canada. The Resources Investment team has built a solid investment reputation, based on investing with companies, generating long-term sustainable free cash flow, and possessing good capital allocation acumen. This is an opportunity to join a team that is well-versed in fundamental and quantitative research. Resources team members work collaboratively with each other and are expected to demonstrate an interest in helping other team members learn about their field of expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

• Completes quantitative and qualitative research and analysis of the Materials sector, with companies in the Metals & Mining, Chemicals, Fertilizer, Forestry and Construction Materials subsectors.
• Conducts in-depth company and industry research with the goal of gaining insights and enhancing investment decisions.
• Provides investment ideas that meet the objective of the Resources Team’s mandates.
• Participates in the development of investment strategies.
• Provides various reports to investment management team.
• Performs ad hoc research and portfolio related project work.

Minimum requirements for this role include:

• University degree in Science or Engineering.
• Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or CFA designation.
• Exceptional analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as, in a team.
• Commitment to collaborative teamwork.

Additional skill considerations:

• Experience in the Metals & Mining, Chemicals, Fertilizer, Forestry and Construction Materials industries.
• Basic understanding of financial markets and valuation.
• Knowledge of Python or SQL, Access database programming is an asset.
