Job Summary This position reports to the Regional Director of Professional Practice. The Regional Professional Practice Consultant for psychology supports practice integrity of over 56 Clinical Psychologists, 1 Coordinator of Clinical Training for Psychology, 5 Psychometrists, 1 Clinical Sexologist, 6 Music Therapists and 2 Art Therapists in Eastern Health. This position is a support to managers in Eastern Health that have Psychology, Sexology, and Creative Arts Therapy staff in the clinical programs and divisions throughout the region. This position is responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of structures that support professional practice through a Professional Practice Model as well as the psychology operational plans in line with the Eastern Health strategic directions. The incumbent develops and fosters collaborative relationships with programs/departments to ensure client-centered care and best practices. He/she works closely with psychologists, creative arts therapists, sexologists, and managers in areas such as hiring and workforce planning, orientation, accountability, workload, clinical documentation, research, resource allocation, outcome measures, advanced practice, and scopes of practice. He/she works with managers and clinical psychology leaders to identify any policies and continuing professional development and research opportunities to support professional practice. His/her leadership and expertise are shared with councils, committees, interprofessional projects and working groups. The PPC - Psychology also liaises with outside agencies such as educational institutions, professional colleges/associations, unions, other health authorities and the Department of Health and Community Services.
Job Qualifications
EducationThe successful applicant must be a Registered Psychologist with the NL Psychology Board. ADoctoral degree in Psychology is required.
ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical and professional leadership experience in psychology.Previous management experience is an asset.
