Chief Power Engineer (Contract 6 -12 months)

Scope:
The Chief Power Engineer is critical to the smooth operation and maintenance of our building systems and is required to supervise and work alongside a team of building operators and building service providers. The Chief Power Engineer has a high level of knowledge when it comes to building systems and equipment and plays a key role in the ESG programs at the building by leading projects and processes to achieve energy efficiency measures within the building systems.
Responsibilities:
Build and lead a team of building operators, including on-boarding, training, mentoring, development, and performance reviews.
Responsible for coordination, management and supervision of multiple vendors and contracts. The key focus for this role is to ensure proper procurement and management of services that are consistent with Oxford standards.
Accountable for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of all building related systems including the mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems for the buildings
Assign and monitor projects and maintenance activities amongst site engineering staff
Reviewing tenant work orders to identify trends and work to improve service delivery with our tenants
Coordinate maintenance and repairs with outside contractors and technicians
Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and materials to complete all tasks
Manage and maintain the Preventative Maintenance System to ensure preventive maintenance duties such as changing filters, lubricating motors, replacing lamps, ballasts, and fixtures, inspecting, and adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning shafts, and other inspections and maintenance are completed as recommended by equipment manufacturers
Responsible for coordinating and documenting all compliance and maintenance activities that are required by code including life safety generators, sprinklers, fire alarm system and carbon monoxide detectors
Responsible for ensuring hot work procedures are adhered to by all staff and contractors
Liaise with Operations Manager to put forward energy efficiency programs, utilizing building software and industry best practices. Energy management experience is a asset.
Develop and maintaining effective building-specific maintenance procedures
Work with the Operations Manager to develop, schedule, track and report on operator training for safety and equipment maintenance
Immediately respond to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
Complying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, occupational health and safety, and company directives
Ensuring management team is informed of current building operations by compiling and submitting weekly reports
Assist with budget preparations, including vendor proposals, analysis of expenses and compilation of materials for management
Completing all required Oxford Properties Safety Training as scheduled
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining maintenance spending within budget amounts
Project management of operational projects including liaising with outside consultants, developing scope of work, obtaining quotes, monitoring workmanship and controlling project costs.
Performing other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Have a minimum of 5 years of operational experience in a high-rise office tower in a supervisory capacity
a valid Alberta Power Engineers license, minimum 4th Class, is required for this position
Preference would be given to candidates with project management experience and are currently enrolled or have completed their SMT/SMA RPA/FMA or other BOMI and similar courses, or CFM/FMP or other IFMA courses
Have proven management and supervisory experience
Possess strong experience with working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including HVAC and life safety systems, Base Building networks, SMART building technologies.
Carry a good understanding of tenant building construction design and construction build outs, including MS Office; Excel, Outlook, Project, Word, and Excel
Literacy in Building Automation Systems, Angus Preventative Maintenance programs, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Have excellent time management skills and can easily prioritize tasks while managing other ongoing activities
