Music Therapy AssistantSummer Student (term 14 weeks)Saint Vincent's Nursing Home is a 148-bed accredited not-for-profit nursing home on the Halifax peninsula. We work together to create quality of life and support each other by recognizing individual physical, social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs. We currently have an opening for a summer student, 14-week term of employment, for a Music Therapy Assistant. Position SummarySupervised by the Director of Resident Care and the Recreation Therapists, the Music Therapy Assistant will work with the Recreation Therapy team in providing quality care through facilitating one to one music and group programs.QualificationsMust be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.Must be able to work evenings and weekends.Must be musically inclined and able to play at least one musical instrument.Working towards a degree in music therapy is an asset.Keen interest and experience working with the elderly is an asset.ResponsibilitiesObserve and practice all safety rules and regulations.Implement one to one music with residents and group programs.Salary and Hours of Work35 hours per week at $16.00 per hour.Quoting competition number REC-016-CB interested applicants should apply in writing to employment@svnh.ca on or before May 8, 2024.
