About the workplace

This is a permanent, full-time role that reports into the Director, Internal Audit. This competitively rewarded role will enjoy a partially-remote working arrangement, which can be fulfilled from your home office.

A typical day would involve:

  • Lead and/or manage primary technology audits through the audit lifecycle according to Vancity Internal Audit methodology. The successful applicant will also be expected to possess working knowledge of, and closely support our co-sourced subject matter experts on, highly technical or complex technology audit engagements.
  • Lead and/or manage project advisory engagements through the project lifecycle according to Vancity Internal Audit advisory framework.
  • Maintain and update the technology risk universe, identifying opportunities to leverage an integrated assurance approach for IT audits and project advisory work.
  • Support the Director, Internal Audit to develop and present a risk-based annual audit plan to the Audit Committee and management, including risk analysis, risk assessment, related environmental factors and related internal circumstances, and related resource plan.
  • Remain up to date with industry trends and emerging risks in the technology landscape.
  • Engage in regular interactions at all levels within the organization, including but not limited to the Executives and the Board.
  • Implement, monitor, and enhance the Internal Audit processes and methodology while remaining consistent with the Global Internal Audit Standards and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Manage performance of direct reports, while providing ongoing coaching as necessary.
  • Provide advice to management on managing risk and control without compromising the independence of Internal Audit.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulators to enable the completion of their work with minimal duplication of effort and impact to business areas.

You have:

  • An undergraduate degree in business with a technology auditing designation (e.g., CIA,CISA,CRSIC,CISSP) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of related experience including 3-4 years of people management experience in leading teams. Experience with project advisory work.
  • Working knowledge of regulations as they relate to the operations of a financial institution, including those published by BCFSA, OSFI, and FINTRAC.
  • Strong understanding of processes related to a financial institution, including but not limited to lending (commercial or retail), treasury, risk management, information technology, and project management.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to create clear understanding of expectations; address challenges and issues; and establish positive and credible relationships with management across the organization;
  • Advanced knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of risk management and internal auditing;
  • Strong planning and project management skills to develop operating plans, processes, methods and standards, and to coordinate execution of audits and delivery of other audit services;
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills to diagnose challenges and issues; develop business solutions; and to assess risks and opportunities that may affect the unit;
  • Sound research and analytical skills to assess, and to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the organization

  • Analytical - You can research and analytical skills to assess and recommend course of action on trends, and to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the unit.

Salary Band: Band 09

The salary range for the role is $91,000 to $136,400 and a candidate's offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($113,700). The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
