Please see the job opportunities page on our website for more details.Job Posting 24-027100% PERMANENT Early Childhood Educator (ECE) – 10 MONTHStart Date: May 6, 2024Location: St Joseph Catholic Elementary School, GuelphHours: 6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week, scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.Rate of Pay: starting at $21.86/hr – $28.58 per hourReporting to the Principal, the Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Classroom Teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program within a classroom setting and provide supervision and age-appropriate programming for groups of students.The Catholic Early Childhood Educator will collaborate with the school teacher in the design of programs and environments which will enhance children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development.Responsibilities And DutiesPartner with the classroom teacher and other designated staff and parent to plan and implement the early learning kindergarten program through developmentally appropriate curriculum-based activitiesCollaborate with the classroom teacher and other designated staff to support individual student’s identified needs, strengths, interests and stages of developmentObserve, monitor and assess the development of pupils in JK/K and extended day program.Partner with the classroom teacher and special education teacher to carry out specialized activities to support learning for children requiring an Individual Education Plan (IEP)Maintain appropriate records for students, (e.g. health, attendance, etc.)Collaborate and maintain set-up of classroom (e.g. display, organization of material etc.)Assist children in washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activitiesOrganize and supervise children on field tripsAttend staff meetings, appropriate school –level meetings and professional development activitiesComplete any other duties as assigned by PrincipalRequired Qualifications And ExperienceHold a two-year community college Early Childhood Education DiplomaProof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood EducatorsKnowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning programExperience planning and implementing age appropriate programsBasic computer skills; and strong organization and time management skillsAbility to communicate and collaborate with othersKnowledge of related legislation and working knowledge of WCDSB related policies and procedures;Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;Proven ability to follow organizational policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely mannerUnderstanding and commitment to confidentialityDemonstrate knowledge of classroom management and take appropriate actions based on established board policies and proceduresExperience in the early learning kindergarten program is an assetBasic food handling procedures is an assetQualified candidates in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators are invited to apply by sending a detailed cover letter, resume, supporting educational documents, a photocopy of your current Roman Catholic baptismal certificate or your Roman Catholic Sacrament of Confirmation certificate, and three (3) professional work related references.
