HOURS: Monday-Wednesday, Friday (varied)

HOURS PER WEEK: 24

LOCATION: 200 King St.E.

STATUS: Regular Part Time Support

Position Summary:

The Inclusion Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating administrative tasks associated with Peer Mentor + services, specifically the Deaf Inclusion programs, which create community-based programming for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and students looking to improve and practice American Sign Language (ASL) skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the Deaf Inclusion programs, both in-person and online, including scheduling of peer mentor hours, allocation of work and coordination of programming, activities, and one-on-one coaching sessions.

  • Tracks peer mentor attendance, hours for payroll, and employee contracts for 3-4 peer mentors.

  • Organizes and assists in the scheduling, planning, and facilitation of meetings, activities, and events.

  • Addresses student issues and make appropriate referrals.

  • Oversees ongoing recruitment, hiring and guidance of peer mentors.

  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders using multiple platforms including email, MS Teams, LMS, and social media.

  • Coordinates in-class presentations and workshops.

  • Assists in the planning and organization of mandatory PD trainings and training materials.

  • Collects and tracks usage data.

  • Organizes the Peer Mentor + spaces and ensures marketing materials are up to date.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Three-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years working in a student service-related position.

  • Fluency in ASL is required.

  • Direct experience working with persons with disabilities and lived experience as a member of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community is required.

  • Experience organizing and overseeing peer-to peer initiatives / programs.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated skills in the use of Excel, Learning Management Systems, MS Teams and other online platforms for tracking and communication purposes.

  • Knowledge of accessibility and anti-oppressive practices and commitment to creating inclusive student spaces

  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset; excellent self-awareness.

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to address programming and student needs.

  • Able to travel between campuses.

  • Demonstrated communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and teamwork skills at a professional level.

  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component. ASL Interpreters will be provided for interviews.
