Position Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Fiber Mill Services, The Fleet Manager will oversee our company's fleet of mobile equipment and light vehicles. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance and long term planning of our fleet, as well as managing a team of technicians. This position is a key role within the Mercer Celgar operational management team. The successful candidate will lead the future development of our fleet. This includes planning for increased electric vehicle technology, greenhouse gas reductions and improved reliability. Our large fleet and operation is looking for a dynamic leader to take our operation to the next level of success.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement fleet management strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs for the fleet of 115 units
Annual maintenance budget
Five year capital plan
Light vehicle maintenance and optimization
Manage a team of five technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
Lead the accurate record keeping of vehicle and equipment maintenance, repairs, and inspections using the Avantis asset management system
Lead the process of Coordinating vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and supplies
Oversee the scheduling and coordination equipment maintenance and repairs.
Monitor fuel consumption and other operational metrics to identify areas for improvement
Manage the maintenance of our on site rail yard
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards
Coordinate with other departments to ensure fleet availability meets operational demands
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in fleet management technology
