Treatment Plant Operator in Training

Do you have your EOCP Wastewater Treatment Operator in Training Certificate or are eligible immediately? Do you have excellent problem solving, analysis and judgement skills? If so, we want you on our Development & Engineering Services Team!

As the successful candidate as the Treatment Plant Operator in Training, you will be responsible for assisting with the daily operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with Ministry of Environment regulations.

You will:

1. Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance outlined in maintenance management program, including:
   • General up-keep and maintenance of WWTP building an surrounding area
   • Check lubrication of all identified equipment
   • Inspection for excessive wear or unusual operation
   • Record all adjustments or required maintenance
   • Ensure all process equipment is functioning to capacity
   • Grease and oil changes of equipment
2. Monitor and make necessary operational adjustments to the BNR process under the direction of the Senior Operator to meet the requirements of the Operating Certificate issued by the Province of BC, maintain compliance with environmental criteria, and minimize risks to public health.
3. Provide recommendations on maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the facility and associated works.
4. Provide assistance to other staff and the Senior Treatment Plant Operator.
5. Coordinate contractor's schedules and monitor work performance.
6. Recommend the purchase of materials, supplies, and equipment required for plant operation.
7. Data collection, input, and reporting for various purposes.
8. Research, plan, and seek approval to maintain and progress certification levels.
9. Other related duties as

We are looking for someone who has completed the Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plant course volume 1 or equivalent as well as has an EOCP wastewater treatment operator in training certificate or is eligible for EOCP certification. You will have excellent communication, time management, and prioritization skills and be able to work both independently, unsupervised and within a team environment. Additionally, you will have strong technical proficiency in MS office. A valid BC Driver's License is required.

This is a CUPE 338 position that works Tuesday to Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and pays $32.61 per hour.
