Job Description:Job Description JOB TITLE Executive Director REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the Board of Directors. Program staff and administrative staff report to the Executive Director. HOURS OF WORK Full time, permanent. JOB PURPOSE The primary role of the Executive Director is to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization's mission of empowering and supporting youth in the community. You will oversee all aspects of Access Youth's operations, including program development, financial management, fundraising initiatives, and community engagement efforts. Working closely with the board of directors, staff members, and external stakeholders, you will drive innovation, collaboration, and excellence in service delivery to meet the evolving needs of youth. With a deep commitment to social justice and youth empowerment, you will champion initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that Access Youth remains a trusted and impactful resource for young individuals facing various challenges. Through your leadership, advocacy, and passion for youth development, you will inspire positive change and create opportunities for growth, resilience, and success among the youth served by Access Youth. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership: Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategic direction for Access Youth in alignment with its mission and values. Lead strategic planning efforts to identify organizational priorities, goals, and objectives, and oversee their implementation to drive meaningful impact and sustainable growth. Organizational Management: Provide overall leadership and management oversight to all aspects of Access Youth's operations, including program development, financial management, human resources, and administrative functions. Ensure efficient and effective use of resources to maximize the organization's impact and achieve its objectives. Fundraising and Resource Development: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from diverse funding sources, including government grants, private foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and partners to expand Access Youth's funding base and enhance its long-term sustainability. Community Engagement and Advocacy: Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for Access Youth within the community, building strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and policymakers to raise awareness of youth-related issues and advocate for policy changes and initiatives that benefit young individuals. QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, social work, psychology, public administration, business administration, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree in a relevant field is an asset. EXPERIENCE Significant experience in nonprofit leadership, management, and youth services is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully leading and managing nonprofit organizations or comparable programs, as well as a strong understanding of youth-related issues, social services, and community development. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including strategic thinking, vision setting, decision-making, and team building. Candidates should have experience leading diverse teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture, and inspiring others to achieve shared goals and objectives. Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation is crucial. Candidates should have experience developing and managing budgets, securing funding from diverse sources, and ensuring financial sustainability and accountability. Strong fundraising and development skills, including experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, and fundraising campaigns. Candidates should have a track record of securing financial support from government agencies, private foundations, corporations, and individual donors. Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on evidence-based practices and outcomes measurement. Candidates should have the ability to assess community needs, develop effective programs and services, and evaluate their impact on target populations. Experience in advocacy, public relations, and community engagement, with the ability to build partnerships, mobilize stakeholders, and advocate for policy changes and initiatives that benefit youth and underserved communities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, including staff, board members, funders, partners, and community stakeholders. A deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to foster a culture of respect, fairness, and belonging within the organization and the communities it serves. Personal qualities such as integrity, empathy, resilience, adaptability, and a passion for youth empowerment and social justice are essential for success in this role. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions primarily entail a blend of office-based responsibilities and community engagement activities. While a significant portion of the work will be conducted in an office setting, the role also involves travel within the community to attend meetings, events, and outreach activities. Interaction with diverse stakeholders, including youth, staff members, board members, funders, partners, and community organizations, is an integral part of the job. Additionally, the Executive Director may encounter situations that require flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to effectively address challenges and meet organizational goals. While the role does not typically involve exposure to hazardous materials or extensive physical exertion, it may require occasional interaction with clients or stakeholders who may be experiencing distress or dissatisfaction. Overall, the working conditions for the Executive Director position at Access Youth prioritize a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive environment aimed at advancing the organization's mission of empowering and supporting young individuals. COMPENSATION $66,606–$74,530 plus benefits. Two weeks of vacation. Mileage reimbursement.
