We are actively seeking a Chief Power Engineer to join our team at Tucker in the Cold Lake Thermal Division. Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Chief Power Engineer will be responsible for managing and providing operational and strategic leadership for the Strathcona Tucker Thermal Facility. They will oversee and coordinate all operational activities to ensure specific tasks are performed correctly, and in accordance with company policy and safety standards. The Chief Power Engineer will be accountable for ensuring that the plant is operating in compliance with ABSA requirements as a first class rated power generating facility and will provide daily leadership and mentorship towards operational and safety excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with, and commitment to, Strathcona's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and regulatory policies, and practices.

  • Ensure safe, efficient and consistent operation and maintenance of equipment and processes.

  • Ensure effective conditions and utilization of personnel, machinery, and equipment.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of preventative and predictive maintenance, corrosion mitigation and asset integrity programs to ensure continuous improvement of assets.

  • Develop initiatives and action plans to continually improve service delivery, cost and efficiency.

  • Develop and steward area operating budgets, including implementation of cost controls and management of third-party expenditures.

  • Act as a key liaison for regulatory, community and other external contacts/relations as required.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory filing and reporting requirements.

  • Accountable owner for Tucker Site Specific Procedures.

  • Ensure all fired, OPPSD systems and pressure equipment complies with ABSA legislation and current engineering standards.

  • Work closely with Corporate Asset integrity group to manage the site Owner User Program.

  • Oversee shift schedule to ensure appropriate area coverage.

  • Plan, manage, direct and coordinate the operational and strategic activities of the business unit.

  • Oversee and direct the training and competency program.

  • Oversee carseal management.

  • Ensure a copy of the act and regulations are available to power engineers and operators at the facility.

  • Provide mentorship to the Shift Engineers at the facility.

Qualifications Include:

  • First Class Engineer's certificate of competency or Second-Class certification with progress towards their first.

  • Direct experience with large water treatment facility operations, power generation, plant automation, maintenance, and operations relating to large production facilities.

  • Oil and Gas experience with focus in Thermal Operations.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.

  • Solid organizational and communication skills, as well as team building and conflict management skills.

  • Highly proficient in MS Office Products.

  • Experience with supervisory control systems such as DeltaV.
