Purpose: The Professional Learning unit offers a selection of non-degree, non-credit courses that enable educators to enhance their professional qualifications. Reporting to the Manager, Professional Learning, the Program Coordinator role provides program, assessment, registration support and systems functionality and end-user support. Education: Undergraduate degree required or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Experience: Three (3) years recent, related experience within an educational institution assessing complex applications/transcripts/academic records and providing program support, answering detailed and complex enquiries and providing regulatory information in a student service or comparable client service oriented operation, related experience providing system end-user support as well as related experience working with online system changes, testing and/or upgrades including LMS and custom online information system, experience preparing reports, processing financial transactions and registrations. Skills: MS Office 365 including MS Word (advanced), MS Excel (advanced), Internet, e-mail. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of online systems including LMS and custom online information systems. Basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML. Basic knowledge of website creation tools. Basic knowledge of programming languages for data searches and queries. Ability to understand and learn new technologies and apply them to the business environment. Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate information related to the Ontario College of Teachers policies (e.g., for the purpose of determining the admissibility of applicants and/or to evaluate credentials) and data. Effective organizational skills including working effectively under pressure in a high volume and setting priorities and meeting deadlines. Initiative and good judgement in analyzing and evaluating situations/circumstances and solving problems. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex policies and procedures. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Dealing courteously and effectively with customers and colleagues. Exercising tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Strong attention to details. Maintaining confidentiality. Working effectively both independently and as part of a team and flexibility and performance as a team player. Reliability and punctuality.
