You will

  • Conduct daily inspections of building entries, corridors, elevators, stairwells, parkade, waste areas, amenity rooms and equipment and building perimeter to ensure all are maintained to a high standard

  • Conduct monthly inspections of all utility and storage rooms and ensure cleanliness

  • Perform some janitorial duties, as required

  • Vacuuming, mopping, and sweep cleaning common areas

  • Perform interior and exterior light maintenance, as required

  • Undertake repairs to suites and the building common areas and issue purchase orders, as necessary

  • Deliver an exemplary level of customer service by responding professionally and promptly to resident and tenant inquiries, greeting residents, visitors and contractors and ensuring work orders are completed daily

  • Complete minor buildings repairs, such as painting, basic plumbing and carpentry, minor electrical repairs and janitorial duties, as required

  • Assist with move in and move out inspections and undertake suite preparations for tenant move-ins

  • Co-ordinate preventative maintenance on building equipment, including fire alarm systems, boilers and elevators, and ensure all certifications are current for building equipment

  • Program security fobs, as required, and ensure the property is safe and secure at all times

  • Ensure supplies, tools and workshops are maintained and are neat and tidy

  • Order building supplies, as needed

  • Ensure residents are following building rules

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the RTA, Fire Codes and Worksafe BC OH&S

  • Provide weekly reports, as required by the Property Manager

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties, as assigned by the Property Manager

  • Attend periodic staff meetings

  • Conduct weekly inspections at two shopping centres in Surrey (Newton and City Centre) and ensure the properties are being maintained to a high standard

  • Identify issues on site and action as directed by the Property Manager

  • Provide access to contractors, as required by the Property Manager

  • Complete minor repairs at the shopping centre, including painting and basic carpentry repairs

You have

  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems
  • Experience performing hands-on repairs in a similar role
  • A valid trades ticket (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work without direction, are a self-starter and have a willingness to learn
  • The capability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Computer proficiency (Email, Management platform, Word, Excel)

  • Newton Towne Centre (7115-7175 138th Street), and

  • Georgetown One (102nd & King George Hwy)

  • Hours

  • The ability to work flexible hours based on business needs

  • Anticipate that 75% of time will be spent at Wood & Water, and 25% of time at Newton Towne Centre

  • On call

  • Mileage travelling to sites reimbursed at current CRA rates

Salary Range

  • $55,000 - $65,000 per year estimated, based on experience
