Position: Cooking School Coordinator - Part Time
This is your opportunity to advance your career in a leadership role. As the Cooking School Coordinator you will manage the Loft Cooking School and Community Room at this Longo's location. Please note that although the role is Part Time, there is potential for full time hours in secondary departments.
What you’ll do:
• Responsible for the coordination, execution and administration of the Loft Cooking School classes, events, and services, including cooking classes for adults and children, children's birthday cooking party programs, private/corporate events, and room rental for the community.
• Assist visiting chefs with grocery shopping, food preparation, serving, clean-up and cooking class execution.
• As the lead instructor for our children's cooking classes and birthday parties, responsible for guiding the children as they make recipes and teach them cooking skills such as chopping, mixing and measuring ingredients and following a recipe.
• Maintains the Loft Cooking School kitchen facilities following Longo's Health & Safety standards.
• Manages calendar of activities for the Loft Cooking School, including scheduling assistants for cooking program execution.
• Acts as the Loft Cooking School Ambassador, promoting the Cooking School to Guests and the community to increase awareness, booking of sales.
• Coordination of in-store demo programs as well as scheduling the in-store demonstrators.
• Supporting with store events and celebrations.
• Provide exceptional service, communication and follow up to our Guests.
What we are looking for:
Strong cooking skills and experience with cooking and serving
Minimum 3 years food service or food preparation experience
• Minimum of 1 year experience in event planning and execution
• Experience working with or teaching school-aged children
• Experience in cooking instruction, guiding adults to follow recipes and make meals an asset• Thorough understanding of financials with a proven track record of delivering on financial targets
• Excellent written and verbal communication and effective follow-up skills
• Proficient computer software skills including Word, Outlook and Excel
• Understanding of WHMIS, Food Safety and Health and Safety practices
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
• Ownership to resolve issues with a sense of urgency
• Effective interpersonal and listening skills
• Strong creativity and organizational skills
• Must demonstrate understanding and commitment to the diversity, equity and inclusion standards held by Longo's to foster an inclusive environment for all.
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain Safe Food Handlers and Smart Serve certifications.
Work Environment:
• Work is performed in a store retail environment
• Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends based on the calendar of Loft events
• The Cooking School Coordinator position will be supplemented with additional hours supporting other areas of the store as required.
• Travel may be required to support offsite events
