Do you want to be in a role where you will coordinate, administer, maintain and monitor the Personnel Security Screening and associated processes for employees, contingent workers, contractors and students for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories in accordance with Treasury Board Standard on Security Screening and Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulations. If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you! Our Chalk River location is looking for a Personnel Security Officer to implement security screening .

What will you be doing !

  • Initiating, tracking, reviewing and processing security screening requests for all new and existing personnel via the automated security screening platform in ServiceCNL.

  • Conducting security checks and verification processes in accordance with policies, regulations and standards to support security screening submissions.

  • Updating and maintaining associated security systems utilized for personnel screening.

  • Conducting reviews of the personnel security file utilizing checklists to ensure all security screening requirements are met and retained on the electronic file.

  • Upon completion of review, authorize the granting of the security clearance.

  • Ensuring personnel security files are managed electronically in accordance with policy.

  • Coordinating and monitoring workflows to support security screening processes.

  • Focus on providing quality and accurate deliverables.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Analyzing security check results and escalating those that warrant a review from the Manager.

  • Interact discretely, tactful and be considerate, yet extract the required personal information.

  • Work independently under minimal supervision and establish own priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.

  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

  • Experience:

  • Experience applicable to office administration and business operations is preferred. Knowledge of security screening practices and applicable standards and regulations an asset.

  • Experience with CNL's business systems: Oracle, ATOM, SEPS, ServiceCNL an asset

  • Knowledge of Treasury Board Standard on Security Screening.

  • Knowledge of CRL access controls.

  • Knowledge of CNL's Protection of Information Standard.

  • Education:

  • College diploma in related discipline (e.g. Office Administration, Business) with 2-4 years of related experience.

  • Security clearance eligibility required: Level 3 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom . CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Working Conditions :

  • Extensive data entry into personnel security screening systems.
  • Visual concentration is required for reviewing security screening information, analyzing security check results and review of submissions in the ServiceCNL platform.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Secure office located in building with no windows.
  • Ultraviolet lighting.
