Will oversee the planning and strategies of the water treatment system in addition to ensuring its operation and sampling. Work closely with water treatment operators, environmental supervisor, environment day labourer, surface facility personnel and other members of the Company. Will work on a 15/ 13 schedule, 15 working days, 13 days off, day and night rotation. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be provided.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Participate in water treatment planning based on factors influencing treatment: seasons, volume of water (rain and snow melt), etc.;
  • Participate in the planning of the maintenance and repair of all elements of the effluent treatment system (pumps, pipes, valves, etc.);
  • Participate in the supervision of water treatment operators by communicating treatment planning, ad hoc strategies and tasks related to equipment maintenance and repairs;
  • Collaborate in the training of water treatment operators;
  • Ensure proper operation of all components and units involved in water treatment including start-up and shut-down;
  • Participate in the development of work procedures;
  • Perform various tests (pH, ammoniacal nitrogen, etc.) to adjust the water treatment process;
  • Take the various data from the treatment system (flow rates, pH, turbidity, etc.) and record them in the databases;
  • Ensures the filling of the various reagents required for water treatment;
  • Ensure the maintenance of the water treatment system including the equipment winterization;
  • Carry out effluent sampling in accordance with the standards and frequency dictated in Directive 019 and send samples to the various laboratories;
  • Always advocate (in decisions, actions, etc.) environmental protection and taking into account aspects of sustainable development (economic, social, ecological);
  • Prioritize the occupational health and safety aspect through the design, tasks and work carried out for the Company and its various associated companies;
  • Ensure that all of the Company's environmental policies and procedures are followed;
  • Work as a team through collaboration, information sharing and maintain effective communication;
  • Perform any other related duties as a Water Treatment Technician to ensure the success of the project.

Qualifications

  • Hold a diploma in water treatment (vocational studies or collegial studies attestation) is MANDATORY.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license REQUIRED.
  • Successful completion of mining units (1-2-3-4-5 and 7), an asset.

Technical skills

  • Two (2) years of experience in water treatment (industrial water an asset);
  • Intermediate level in the use of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet;
  • Intermediate knowledge in chemistry and science;
  • Pumping equipment and basics plumbing knowledge;
  • WHMIS certification to work safely with chemicals, an asset.

Core competencies

  • Good knowledge of French (an asset);
  • Be open minded, have a good ability to adapt and be open to changes and constructive feedback;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to recognize priorities;
  • Ability to communicate ideas well;
  • Be autonomous, have initiative and be able to handle several files simultaneously;
  • Have a good sense of observation, logic and thoroughness.
